DORCHESTER Town boss Steve Thompson felt his side had put in a “colossal” effort after Kettering snatched a dramatic 4-3 victory in their epic Evo-Stik Southern Premier Division encounter at Latimer Park.
Dorchester led through Ash Pope’s early goal before Ross Carmichael saw red for two yellows and Kettering went in 2-1 up at the break thanks to Brett Solkhon and Aaron O’Connor goals.
Kyle Egan and Billy Lowes restored the brave Magpies’ lead before O’Connor overturned the scoreline again to claim his treble and three precious points for the Poppies.
Speaking to Echosport, Thompson admitted he was “disappointed” with Carmichael, as an injury-hit Dorchester fell to a sore loss.
He said: “I’m happy in one way, but gutted in another. The lads put in a hell of a shift, we played 55 minutes with 10 men. I couldn’t ask for much more.
“But it was like a casualty ward at the end. Luke Winsper came off injured and we’ve got injuries to a couple of others.”
He added: “I’m disappointed with the way (Carmichael’s red) happened. I did give him a warning and said he had to be whiter than white, but it happened two minutes (after the first yellow).
“But what’s done is done. Everyone put in a colossal effort, we just seemed to pick up a lot of injuries.”
