WEST WILTS 4
WEYMOUTH LADIES 3
WEYMOUTH Ladies suffered a narrow 4-3 defeat at the hands of West Wilts in their West Clubs Women’s League East Division clash in Warminster.
Weymouth took an early lead with some short passes which led to Susie Stone getting the ball through to Emily Austin who made beautiful contact with the ball, hitting it to the far left corner of the goal.
However, West Wilts retaliated powerfully with three breaks down the middle to take a 3-1 lead.
Weymouth’s second goal came from attacking play down the left from Jemma Brunell who took a shot on goal, deflecting back to Austin who placed it into the corner making the score 3-2.
West Wilts maintained their energy with little time to go and Weymouth took the risk to put all their players up.
However, the tactic did not pay off and Weymouth conceded another goal to make the score 4-2.
In the last two minutes, Weymouth were awarded a penalty corner which saw Anneka Bowles inject into Gina Brown to stop for Austin to push the ball back to Bowles on the post who deflected it in.
Joint players of the match: Jemma Brunell and Anneka Bowles
