BERE REGIS II 197-9 (20pts) beat WEYMOUTH II 72 (4pts) by 125 runs
WEYMOUTH Seconds suffered a disappointing 125-run loss at Bere Regis Seconds in County Division Five.
Bere won the toss and elected to bat against their fellow promoted side, with Nick White quickly hitting his stride in a superb innings of 91.
Tim Guyett (1-27) and debutant Will Channon (1-38) went wicketless in their first spell, but first-change Ollie Gordon (2-29) broke through by removing Bere skipper Andy Kent.
Seasiders’ all-rounder Andy Anderson then entered the fray and extracted significant movement from the Bere Regis Rec pitch to take 5-35, including the wicket of White.
Bere added late impetus from Archie Weedon (13no) as the hosts posted 197-9 from their 40 overs.
Weymouth’s reply was initially solid, Luke Lovett (2) and Tony Quayle (11) seeing off the opening attack, but once Lovett was bowled by Kieron Woodhouse (1-13), Weymouth also lost Quayle and Channon (10) in stumbling to 36-3.
Guyett (10) provided some resistance but was dismissed by Weedon (4-21), with Andy Jeffreys (5) also succumbing as Weymouth reached 47-5.
Tom Reed (14no) impressed late on for the Seasiders, but wickets tumbled around him as Jake Perch (3-16) and Weedon cleaned up the tail to complete a comfortable win.
Weymouth next visit another promoted side, Bradford Abbas, on Saturday, May 26 after a bye weekend.
