WEYMOUTH under-16s and ladies’ vets both achieved first places at Swanage regatta with all crews fighting hard for their positions, both in the regatta as a whole and for Weymouth’s place in the Jurassic League.

The under-16 crew were in front from start to finish and their result was never in doubt once they had consolidated their lead. They showed composure, great technique and effort which delighted their cox.

The under-16 co-coordinator said “All the under-16s have worked really hard in training and it was great to see all that effort repaid with a fantastic victory. I am really proud of them”

The ladies’ vets held a tight finish and snatched victory from Swanage

Results: Men’s vets - third; mixed sixth; ladies C fifth, men’s C seventh, ladies B second,men’s B fourth

The Jurassic league this year has three new categories, mixed, men’s and ladies’ vets.

Weymouth achieved 29 points in the Jurassic league which puts them third with Swanage and Bridport joint first on 21 points.

With further league regattas to come Weymouth will be fighting hard to improve their results with Exmouth Regatta coming up this weekend.
