DORCHESTER Town centre-back Callum Rose insisted there was only one club he wanted to sign for ahead of penning a one-year contract with the Magpies.
Rose, who impressed for Town during a loan stint from former side Plymouth Argyle last season, admitted that spell had reignited his enjoyment of the game.
He told Echosport: “In the build up of going to trials, the whole time I did want to sign for Dorch. It was in my head, I finished the season here and I was really happy playing football here.
“I just felt like I was enjoying it again and I’m really happy to be here. Steve (Thompson) is obviously a good manager, he knows what he’s doing and it’s nice to have a manager like that.
“The lads have just got better as time has gone on and I think we’re going to have a good season.”
Rose signed his deal after playing in a 0-0 draw against former club Argyle – the Pilgrims having released the defender last season – and expressed his eagerness to face his former club.
He said: “It was nice. I was building up to that one for the whole week! I got a bit nervous at the beginning but we put on a good performance and didn’t embarrass ourselves.”
He added: “I’ve done my own pre-season because I’ve been in and out with different clubs. I hadn’t trained with Dorchester and had to keep fit on my own.”
