THE Grey Ranks Weymouth Boxing Crew saw six losses and one win, from Lukasz Kucharski, as they journeyed to compete in an international tournament in Wodzislaw, Poland.

Six boxers from the club – Anthony Spence, George Otton, Josh Haskins, Ryan Grubb, Travis Reynolds and Kucharski, were invited over to the Poland versus England event, as recognition for their hard work, talent and progress they have made within their training.

Only the latter claimed a victory however, with all other boxers losing via split decisions

The international stage in Poland, which housed more than 300 spectators, was equipped with strobe lighting, music and flags.

Four youth skill fights formed the warm-up for the night, before the Grey Ranks’ three juniors took to the ring for their international debut.

Young Haskins was first up, showing a smart and skilful style.

Reynolds was second, demonstrating his feisty, courageous personality and Grubb was last showing some fantastic footwork.

All three juniors gave an impressive performance, showing the majority Polish crowd, England or more specifically Weymouth, were not to be underestimated.

After the juniors bouts, Grey Rank seniors were next under the ropes.

Otton was first to compete with a confident approach and a rock hard chin, Spence was next with a classy and defensive style, before it was Kucharski’s time to close the show.

Grey Rank accomplished boxer, Kucharski, took the fight by storm with his overpowering and aggressive approach, the heavyweight fighter of the night closed the show with an impressive Weymouth win.

Martin Fojt, from the Grey Ranks, said: “I would like to say a huge thank you to coach Patryk Blasik and his club, Boxing Odra Wodzislaw Slaski, for organising accommodation, food, travel and such a brilliant event for our boxers.

“I would also like to thank all sponsors, assistant coach Marvin Talbot and club medic Libys McGuinness who travelled alongside the athletes to complete the team.”

The Grey Ranks train four days a week between two gyms: Fitness World Southill and Weymouth ABC.
