BERE Regis captain Rich Cole is relishing the prospect of having an “influence” on the Dorset Funeral Plan Premier League title race.

Cole’s men travel to The Leaze today (1pm) to take on leaders Wimborne & Colehill, who face pressure from Dorchester and Poole Town for league honours.

And the Bere skipper also has his eye on avenging a 10-run loss to the Minstermen in the return fixture.

He told Echosport: “It’s always nice to have an influence on what’s going on at the top of the table.

“We had a close run at home and lost, so we’ll look to take them close, if not win.

“They obviously have home advantage so I’m sure that will be something to contend with.

“I’m certainly looking to stay positive as the season draws to a close.”

Cole added that his side’s main motivation is to finish as high as possible.

“We’ve still got to play Poole as well. We’ve got to have something to play for.

“The team is motivated because we want to try and finish as high as we can in the league, so when we start next season we start from a better base and people show us a bit more respect in years to come rather than being the new boys on the block.”

Bere welcome back Rob Murphy, Rich Payne, Dave Griffiths and Sean Walbridge for the clash.
