WEYMOUTH manager Mark Molesley admitted it felt a little bit like déjà vu as a Brandon Goodship hat-trick claimed all three points for the Terras at Harrow Borough in the Evo-Stik Southern Premier South.

Molesley also praised his side’s fighting spirit which he believes will stand them in good stead for the season ahead.

When asked if it felt like déjà vu Molesley responded: “You know what it probably does a little bit.

“A penalty and a left foot and a right foot so a good hat-trick from his point of view.

“He picked up from where he left off so I am delighted for him and for us as well because his hat-trick helped seal the three points and three massive points as well because it chalked off the first win away from home against a good, tough Harrow Borough outfit.”

However, Molesley emphasised that the most important thing was the three points gained from Harrow.

Molesley said: “The most important thing was to get the victory and we delivered on that so I am really pleased.”

In an eventful match Weymouth initially went behind after four minutes from Harrow’s Ryan Moss, before Goodship struck in the 34th minute via a penalty.

Goodship then handed the Terras the lead after 52 minutes, before Moss struck again in the 65th but Goodship’s 72nd minute goal bagged the three points.

Molesley admitted his side started slowly and said it was not good enough but praised his side’s ability to fight back.

Molesley said: “We started slow unfortunately a little bit sluggish and slow which was not good enough from our own standards.

“But we rallied and we came back and got our noses in front and then got pegged back again so to come back again really showed the fighting spirit in us.”

Molesley praised the characteristics his side showed against Harrow when looking ahead to the rest of the season.

He said: “It was far from a polished performance from us but I think in the first game of the season you are never going to be at your complete best.

“But what was important was that we showed some really good characteristics which will stand us in good stead for the season.”

Molesley also praised new signings Josh McQuoid, Antonio Diaz and Matt Casey for their role in the game.

He said: “Josh has obviously started and he will go from strength to strength with us I am sure, he gave a good account of himself.

“Young Diaz came on and Matt (Casey) the big centre-half, it is always difficult for a centre-half to come on in a game that is so tight and he came on and it looked like a mature performance when he came on. So plenty of food for thought for me going into (tomorrow).”

The Terras face Taunton Town at home tomorrow evening (7.45pm).
