WEYMOUTH manager Mark Molesley admitted that it was a great feeling after he saw his side snatch a late winning goal from Abdulai Baggie against Taunton Town in the Evo-Stik Southern Premier South.

The win ends Taunton’s 35-game unbeaten run in league trim and ensured Weymouth are off to a superb start with two wins from their two matches in the league.

Molesley said: “When it ends like that, when you snatch it right at the end it is a great feeling. It shows what character the squad have got.

“We never give up and our rewards will come in the end because we kept probing, kept passing, kept trying and it was frustrating at times but we kept trying to do the right thing.”

Molesley praised the Peacocks, who came flying out of the blocks for the first 20 minutes, before Weymouth began to nullify their threat.

Molesley said: “It is hard for teams to stay with them. They move the ball a lot and they are a good, strong well-organised outfit and that is why the win was so big because I think they are going to be up and around it near the top of the table if I had to bet on someone, it would be them.”

The Terras boss admitted that the first 20 minutes were among the worst he has had managing Weymouth but was pleased with how his side recovered.

Molesley said: “The reaction (from Weymouth) was big because that first 20 minutes is probably one of the worst 20 minutes I have had since I have been manager if I am honest.

“After such a shaky 20 minutes in front of a big crowd in our first home game of the season we could have folded, it could have turned into ‘oh no’ but we didn’t.

“We stuck to our guns, we had to show a lot of bravery and courage because of the bad start we had and like I said we got ourselves going.

“We believe in ourselves, we know that if we stick to our principles and keep going that someone is going to have to have a real good game to take three points off us.”
