GREENHILL lifted the Baker Cup after a titanic battle with Wellworthy in the showpiece final which was played at Dorchester.
Two of the three contests were competitive events for the first half of the games but Greenhill eventually powered ahead on all three rinks to finish with a superb 73-42 victory.
The game between Greenhill’s N Skidmore, W Brown, M Gale and skip B Patterson and Wellworthy’s J Kelly, N Apsey, B Mills and skip C Slade was nip and tuck at 9-9 after 13 ends but the Weymouth side ran away in the final stages, winning these ends by 13-1 and finishing as clear 22-10 victors.
Wellworthy also competed well in the first half of the tussle between A Goodwin, G Smith, S Livings and skip M Haylock and Greenhill’s J Allen, M Irvine, W Smith and skip M Chislett and were in fact a shot in front after 14 ends.
However, Greenhill again upped their game in the latter stages to gain a comfortable 22-15 success.
The contest between Greenhill’s StJ Corben with H Hovenden, D Obee, M Durant and their opponent’s K Tilyard, D Hicks, G Field and skip G Reed was effectively decided in the first 10 ends when Greenhill romped to a 24-4 advantage before coasting to an excellent 29-17 win.
