WEYMOUTH Wildcats co-promoter Martin Peters feels his squad has “a lot of determination” as they seek to secure victory over Reading Racers in their final Southern Development League meeting of the season at Eastbourne tonight.

Peters’ men are without a win this season, but the mantra of the Wildcats’ set-up is to provide experience to young riders, such as Isle of Wight talent Morgan Williams, who will ride on a one-off basis today.

Williams joins Wildcats’ regulars Bailey and Jacob Fellows, who each attained 10 GCSE passes this week, plus experienced Martyn Smith on the Weymouth roster.

Peters told Echosport: “A win would be nice. We’ve only got Bailey and Jacob with Martyn and Morgan.

“Morgan lives on the Isle of Wight and he’s coming across in his car to ride.

“It’s all good experience for him and it’s a track he’s never ridden before down at Eastbourne.

He’s getting better all the time.

“There’s a few lads that have got a lot of determination and want to ride. They’re just getting better.”

Reading will field a solid side, including the highly thought-of Dan Gilkes.

“It’s a strong team. Dan is a massive talent. It’s going to be a hard old test, but we’ll have to see what happens,” Peters said.
