DORCHESTER Town midfielder Sean Stewart has signed dual registration terms with Dorset Premier League side Balti Sports.

Stewart signed for Dorchester Town after spells last season with Weymouth and Sydenhams Wessex Premier Division side Blackfield & Langley, where he enjoyed a league-winning campaign.

Balti’s coup means Stewart will drop from competing in the seventh to 11th tier of English football to turn out for Sports.

Stewart, who also played two cup finals at St Mary’s during his time with the Watersiders, is understood to have failed to report for Dorchester Town training after being left out of the squad for the Magpies’ 4-2 win at Wimborne Town.

Boss Steve Thompson has allowed the midfielder to sign with Marco Nott’s side on dual terms but admitted he needed to have talks with the former Bridport man.

Thompson told Echosport: “I’ve got to have a chat with Sean, he didn’t turn up for training after the Wimborne game.

“I think he was disappointed that he wasn’t in the 16. It may be that we have to look at that situation and see what we do.

“People have to tow the line, they can’t just do things like not turn up for training. I’m unsure exactly how it will finish but I have a lot of thinking to do.”

Stewart, playing in his familiar central midfield role, played the full 90 minutes for Balti in their 1-1 draw with Portland United Reserves on Tuesday night.
