WEYMOUTH competed at the Lyme Regatta on Saturday for the final leg of the Jurassic League season.

Bridport were crowned this year's champions with Weymouth claiming fourth place.

Conditions were good and spectators and rowers gathered on the Cobb to watch 18 clubs from around the south west compete in some hard-fought races.

The Weymouth under-16 crew gained a close second place to Lyme Regis but in the overall results they confirmed their place as Jurassic league under 16 champions.

The six under-16 rowers at Lyme received medals and a trophy as well as four others who all played a part over the season at different Jurassic events.

Under-16 co-ordinator, Alison Parry said: "All the youth members who come down every week have been part of the training and have played their part and I am looking forward to getting more of them racing next year."

The ladies' vets had a tight finish with Bridport and finished second by one point in the overall Jurassic League results.

The ladies' vets and ladies' B took second with the ladies' super vets achieving third place.

The men’s C fought hard for a well-earned fifth place

A club spokesman said: "All crews had a brilliant day and we thank Lyme for hosting such a wonderful regatta."
