WEYMOUTH captain Harry Mitchell feels his promotion-chasing side have no alternative but to “go for it” in their final County Division Two match against Beaminster at Redlands tomorrow (1.30pm).

Mitchell’s men must win and hope fellow promotion hopefuls Witchampton beat second-placed Wimborne & Colehill Seconds to overhaul the six-point deficit to the Minstermen.

Witchampton can still earn promotion but need to turn around their 13-point gap to Wimborne by taking a big win and require Beaminster to heavily defeat the Seasiders.

Speaking to Echosport, Mitchell said: “We’re going to really go for it this week and see what happens. We’ll enjoy ourselves and play our best cricket.

“Hopefully Witchampton do us a favour. I’m definitely going to back us to win, we know how to play at Redlands.

“If we can post a bigger score than 210 with our bowling attack we should be okay.

“Last week, we built a good start and then everyone tried to go into gear two or three.

“We’ve got to look at our game. If we don’t win it doesn’t matter. We just have to worry about ourselves.

“We’re not going to be disappointed if we don’t go up. We know we’re going to be in division two unless we get some luck.”

Sami Rathnayake comes in for Paul Webb in Weymouth’s only change, while John Wilson (shoulder) misses out.
