MARTINSTOWN skipper Ed Nichols feels nerves could “play a factor” in their final Dorset Funeral Plan Premier League match with leaders Wimborne & Colehill at Lower Ashton Farm tomorrow (1pm).

The Minstermen need just four points to secure the league title and Nichols, whose side can finish fourth at best, is aiming to “get into them early” to exploit any tension amongst the visitors.

He told Echosport: “We’re set to finish the highest we’ve ever been in the league, so it’s gone really well from our perspective. Realistically, fourth would be a very good finish for us.

“But we’ve not managed to win against Wimborne, Poole and Dorchester. Those are the kind of games in future we want to win.”

He added: “Wimborne are a really good side. I don’t recall getting close to bowling them out, so we’ll be looking to get into them early.

“If there are some nerves, that could play a factor in the game. Maybe we can play on that a bit. There’s obviously a lot more pressure on them than us.”

Martinstown are set to replace Chris Read (finger) and Tom Pope with Charlie Durant and Will Maltby.
