CORFE CASTLE 3

BALTI SPORTS 3

BALTI Sports suffered a disappointing 3-3 draw at Corfe Castle despite taking a very early lead through Carl McClements in the Dorset Premier League.

Balti got off to the perfect start when a good ball from Danny Andrews towards the back post saw Ricky Lane head the ball on to the bar before McClements volleyed in from 12 yards.

However, Corfe made an immediate response two minutes later when a handball from Josh Burton gave away a penalty.

Balti goalkeeper Andy Nott saved the initial effort but Corfe were able to tuck in the rebound to level the scores.

Liam O’Shaughnessy was then caught in possession and Corfe capitalised to run through and fire past Andy Nott in the 15th minute.

Balti managed to respond five minutes later through Andrews, when he had a shot cleared off the line which came out to Lane who fired in but again saw it cleared off the line.

However, Andrews made no mistake from the rebound and ran past the goalkeeper to tuck in to level the scores.

A mix-up between Balti centre-backs Matt Roberts and Josh Burton helped Corfe take the lead again though.

Burton passed it short to Roberts whose attempt to pass out got blocked and allowed Corfe to run through and score again.

In the second half, Balti missed numerous chances to level with Sean Stewart, a recent signing for Balti, missing three good chances.

However, with 20 minutes to go, McClements slotted into the near post after good work from Andrews to level the scores once again.

Balti could not find a way through however and were held to a frustrating draw.

Balti boss Marco Nott said: “We are bitterly disappointed really. It was a game we should have won there is no two ways about it.

“We emphasised that at the start of the game that three points was a must really and three points was the only thing that was acceptable.

“To come away with a draw was extremely disappointing really. I could not fault the effort or the work rate of the lads we are just conceding really stupid goals. It has cost us dear.”

“The lads just switched off really, it was real sloppy play and then it was a handball from Josh Burton in the penalty box.”

“To go 2-1 behind was unbelievable. Real casual slack play at the back really, not decisive enough.”

Balti next face Dorchester Sports at home in the Dorset Premier League Cup. on Saturday (3pm).
