DORSET will take a slender lead into the final day of their Unicorns Championship clash against Western Division leaders Berkshire at North Perrott tomorrow.
0 comment An unbroken sixth-wicket stand of 83 between Lymington’s Ryan Scott (50) and Jigar Naik (42) rescued Dorset following a second innings wobble.
It took them to 173 for five at the close and saw them wipe out Berkshire’s lead but left the hosts just 21 ahead with five wickets remaining.
Resuming their first innings on 148 for one and in reply to Dorset's 186, Berkshire lost opener Jack Davies (67) when he was caught by Luke Webb off the bowling of Josh McCoy, his second-wicket stand with Euan Woods worth 136.
Woods (159) then shared partnerships of 52 for the fourth wicket with Dan Lincoln and 61 for the sixth with Joe Thomas before he became Naik's third victim at 322 for six.
Berkshire lost their next four wickets for the addition of just 16 runs with two run-outs and two more scalps for Naik (5-70) restricting their lead on first innings to 152.
Lewis McManus fell cheaply for the second time in the match before Luke Webb was trapped in front by Woods to leave Dorset on 52 for two.
Alex Eckland (22) and Ben Wells (22) both succumbed having made starts with Josh McCoy’s dismissal seeing Dorset slump to 90 for five before Scott and Naik came together.
