BLANDFORD UNITED 1

BRIDPORT RESERVES 4

BRIDPORT Reserves stormed to a well-earned 4-1 win over Blandford United in the Dorset Premier League

Goals from Josh Hull, Dan Baggs, Dan Peart and Robin Jones saw Bridport easily past Blandford, who had Mark Ford score.

Bridport did take the lead soon after when good work from Brandon Scadding down the right-hand side got the ball to the byline before he pulled the ball back for Hull who made no mistake.

After 20 minutes the lead doubled as Hull was upended in the box giving the Bees a penalty and Baggs duly stepped up and fired in.

Bridport continued to create chances through Luke King, Antony Carlile, Hull and Sam Handyside but could not extend the lead further as the Bees took a 2-0 lead in at half-time.

Blandford narrowed the scores in the 65th minute when Ford picked the ball up inside the Blandford box and showed some good footwork before firing under Bridport goalkeeper Billy Fleet.

Bridport then had to weather a storm from Blandford but extended their lead after a free-kick just outside the box on 75 minutes and Peart caught Blandford off-guard to stroke the free-kick home.

Jones then hit a low left-foot shot from 18-yards out to seal the 4-1 victory.

However, Bridport conceded a late penalty through a Peart foul on the edge of the box but Fleet made a fantastic save from Luke Pidgeley to keep the ball out as the game ended 4-1 to Bridport.

Bridport reserves manager Shaun Annetts, said: “We have played like that before and not won games so it was about time that the tide changed and the luck went our way.” So I was very pleased with everything regarding the game.

“We should have won comfortably in two or three games already this year and we haven’t so it was nice to finally do that on Saturday.”

Bridport: Fleet, Baggs (Gall 65), King, Peart, Cox, Ward, Handyside, Gape, Scadding, Hull (Jones 75), Carlile (McAllister 85).
