PAUL Dormer and Arnie Quinn both had great individual performances on week 17 as the Weymouth ADC Summer League enters the last couple of weeks before the cup competitions start.

Dormer, having to play five games on the night due to some catch-up matches, came through all of them with a victory to his name.

He claimed two 3-0 wins over Mel Gregg and Simon Sharp at the end of the night, which also saw him once again defeat Danny Aplin 3-2 in the middle of two 3-1 wins over Trevor Honnor and Arnie Quinn.

Quinn himself had one stand-out performance, hitting a 130 and 160 out shot in his 3-2 success over champion-elect Sam Ward.

Leading 2-0 with the high shot-outs Quinn was looking at whitewashing Ward before the leader got it back to 2-2 for Quinn to take the deciding leg and the match.

This was Quinn’s only highlight as he suffered defeat in each of his other matches, losing to Dormer before 3-0 and 3-1 losses to Matty Betts and Drew Tweedy respectably.

Tweedy has established himself in his first season with the ADC, currently sitting in fifth and playing confidently well in the process and his victory over Quinn was then followed with a 107 shot-out, a 3-2 win over Chris Stones and then a 3-0 win against Sharp.

On his performances so far Tweedy will be well in contention for a play-off place in the winter. Betts, who also had a great first season, rounded his night off with two wins, 3-0 against Quinn and Sharp, before a 104 out-shot before a 3-0 defeat to Stones.

Despite defeat in his last match of the night, Ward started the evening with two 3-1 wins over Stones and Sharp.

The battle for second will come down to the last couple weeks as six legs separate current leader Aplin and fourth-placed Mel Burton. Once again neither could take advantage of each other slipping up as both suffered defeat on the night with Aplin losing 3-2 to Dormer and Burton losing 3-0 to Mark Long.

These defeats let Andrew McDermott back in the fold and into third spot as he won all three of his matches starting with a 3-1 success over Mark Samways and ending it with a 3-0 over Terry Tucker. McDermott was massively tested and lucky to come through his second match as he and Paul Paice both missed doubles to take the win before McDermott finally sunk double top for the 3-2 victory.

Aplin and Burton both came through their other matches with victories, Burton beat Nigel Davies 3-0 and ended with a 3-1 over Simon Churchill. Aplin started with a 3-0 over Heidi Paice before an impressive 3-0 over Stones that saw him hit a last leg 12-darter finishing on 134 for the win. A 3-0 win against Chris Burton leaves Aplin with one game left in the season against Ward next week.

Churchill playing five games also ended with three wins and two defeats. Two 3-1 wins against Stewart Masters and Dave Butler followed a 3-0 over Wayne Jordan.

Scott Gannon finally picked up a win after weeks of frustration and missed doubles, in the form of a 3-2 win over Terry Tucker that saw him have a 15-dart second leg was as good as it got though for Gannon as he then suffered another two defeats in his other matches 3-1 to Paice and Samways.

Other results from around the boards that also included some catch-up matches saw Honnor win two out of three league matches, a 13-dart leg in his 3-1 win over Chris Burton was one highlight before a 3-0 victory over Heidi Paice.

Burton started with a narrow 3-2 win over Mel Gregg in the opening match on board three with the latter leading 2-0 before Burton came back and took the victory.

Mark Long and Davies hit two 180s in their own matches, Long with that great 3-0 win over fourth spot Burton followed it with a 3-1 over Butler before a 3-1 defeat to Stewart Masters. Butler despite two defeats ended the night with a 3-2 win over closest rival Davies.
