FORMER Cherries star Eunan O’Kane is set to miss the rest of the season after suffering a double leg break.

The 28-year-old midfielder, who had been on loan to Luton Town from Leeds United, was stretchered off during the Hatters’ 1-0 win over Bristol Rovers in League One.

O’Kane had only just come on as a second-half substitute at Kenilworth Road and was making his fourth appearance.

He underwent surgery on Sunday before returning to Leeds to begin his rehabilitation.

A statement on the Luton website read: “We can confirm that on-loan midfielder Eunan O'Kane suffered a fractured tibia and fibula in his left leg during the second half of the Hatters’ 1-0 home win over Bristol Rovers.

“We would like to wish Eunan a speedy recovery and thank him for his efforts during his brief spell at the club, during which he made a big impression on everyone he met at Kenilworth Road.”

O'Kane brought down the curtain on four glittering years at Vitality Stadium when he joined Leeds in August 2016.

The Republic of Ireland international was part of the Cherries squad which won promotion from League One and the Championship, making more than 100 appearances in all competitions.

However, injury and the impressive form of his club-mates ultimately ended up limiting the chances of Derry-born O'Kane.
