JURASSIC Coast Girls FC kicked off their season in style on Saturday with the presentation of two new kits from local sponsors and the under-12 team easing to a 3-0 win over Merley Cobham Sports.

The under-10s team were presented with their new sponsored kit from Hidden Gem Kebab House, a fast-food takeaway located at the Littlemoor Shopping precinct, although they were without a game due to their opening fixture getting cancelled.

However, they still had time for a training session and a photo with Cem Ciftlik, their sponsor for the new season.

Nathan Wood, club chairman, said: “We are so pleased to have Cem on board as our sponsor for the next two seasons, not only is he the parent of one of our players, but he is a committed and fully supportive parent who is on the sidelines supporting the girls from behind the Respect Barrier at pretty much every match and training session.”

Jurassic Coast Girls U12s were also in a new Hummel Rose Violet and Aqua Marine kit, sponsored by McDonald’s Drive-Thru Weymouth, who have been their sponsor since last season.

Wood said: “McDonald’s have also been a fantastic sponsor for our club, they provide lots of excellent equipment as part of the deal and McDonald’s recognised the contribution we make to the local girls’ football community by granting our summer tournament the status as one of their regional community football days in June, everyone associated with the club would like to thank them for their continued support.”

The under-12s opened the season with a very comfortable 3-0 victory over Merley Cobham Sports at 3D Health and Fitness Wey Valley School.

They got the scoring opened early with an excellent first-time finish from a well-worked corner, before another good move from the front three was finished calmly by the central striker.

Shortly before half-time, they nearly added a second with a long-range shot from a defender responding to a partially cleared corner with a looping effort that hit the top of the crossbar.

The second half was one of consolidation, adding a third at midway with a well-placed long-range drive from their holding midfielder.

The Roar controlled the second half, with confident well organised defending and dominating possession, keeping a clean sheet and preventing any clear-cut opportunities for the opposition throughout the match.
