PORTLAND United manager Brendon King was full of praise for opponents Hamble Club as he readies his side to travel to Hampshire tomorrow in the Sydenhams Wessex Premier Division (3pm).

The Blues face the trip to the Monks boosted by the potential return of Lewis Whyton and Sam Buckler as both have completed three-game suspensions.

King said: “It is going to be a tough old game away at Hamble. They are a big physical side. They have got bags of experience in their squad so it is going to be tough.

“They have got some good players, they have got a lot of experience. Sometimes when you catch them on their good day they are a very good side and they are capable of beating anyone so hopefully they will have an off day.

“With the squad, the players they have got, they certainly are one of the better sides in the league on their day for sure.”

King is glad to be back in league action though, describing it as his sides bread and butter.

King said: “We are back to league action after the league cup last week and this is our bread and butter, this is what we train hard for. We should have a couple more back making it a bit more competitive in the squad.”

Portland sit sixth in the early stages of the league with nine points, a point ahead of Hamble having played a game less.
