WEYMOUTH & Portland coach Simon Litster has called for his troops to “step up several gears” ahead of hosting in-form Dorset Dockers at Monmouth Avenue in Dorset & Wilts One South tomorrow (3pm).

The Seahorses produced a last-gasp converted try at Bridport to secure a 24-24 draw at the Brewery Ground last time out.

Litster feels Weymouth will have to improve against Dockers, who have taken the maximum 10 points from two games this season.

He told Echosport: “I suppose we have to step up several gears from our performance at Bridport. We’ve got no pretences about how difficult it will be.

“Dockers are arguably the best team in the league but they’re a different team home and away. It depends what team they send down to us.

“They had a very good win against Swanage and a closer win against Salisbury in their first game.

“We know it’s going to be a tough game but the attitude in the camp is good.

“Training was very positive and all the lads are up for it. It’s a question of whether they bring their best game to the pitch.

“They’ve had to do a lot of self-analysis, so hopefully that will put them in the right frame of mind.”

The Seahorses are boosted by the return of pacy winger Norton Rogers for the contest.

Litster said: “Norton will be back, so we’ve got a bit of speed. I’m sure he will be keen to get his name on the scoresheet.

“There are a couple of players ahead of him on tries scored and I’m sure he’ll be keen to make his mark.”
