SOUTH Dorset Spurs are set to hold their latest Legends’ night in support of child bereavement charity Mosaic this December at Portland Masonic Hall.

Tottenham’s Dorset branch will host two former players, both major trophy winners, in David Howells and Paul Miller on Friday, December 7 with tickets costing £35.

Questions will be put to the ex-Spurs heroes by another former Tottenham stalwart Phil Beal, a UEFA Cup winner with the north London side in 1972.

Howells, who rose up through the club’s youth ranks in the 1980s, made more than 300 appearances for Spurs and was part of the side that beat Nottingham Forest 2-1 in the fabled 1991 FA Cup final.

Miller, meanwhile, won two FA Cups with Spurs in 1981 and 1982. In the 1981 final, Miller gained notoriety when conceding a penalty for a foul on Manchester City’s Dave Bennett in a replay in which Miller’s men won 3-2.

The centre-back also scored a pivotal away goal in the 1983-84 UEFA Cup victory over Anderlecht, Spurs going on to win the title 4-3 on penalties after drawing 2-2 over two legs.

Howells and Miller are the latest players to take part in a South Dorset Spurs event, with the likes of Ricky Villa, Ossie Ardiles and Paul Stewart having already participated this year.

Doors open at 6.30pm, with tickets including a supper. Contact David Ralph on 07553243693 for more details.
