DORCHESTER TOWN 1

Winsper 33

WALTON CASUALS 1

Bennett 79

DORCHESTER Town surrendered their hard fought lead when Walton Casuals salvaged a draw with a 79th minute equaliser from Daniel Bennett at the Clayson Stadium in the Evo-Stik Southern Premier South.

Luke Winsper had opened the scoring 12 minutes before the break with a close range tap in after visiting keeper, Denzel Gerrar, failed to cut out a downward header from Harry Kite following a Neil Martin free kick awarded after a foul on Tom Blair.

Dorchester boss Steve Thompson made two changes to his starting line-up with Kite replacing Ben Morris and Tom Blair in for Dom Panesar-Dower who dropped to the bench.

Walton produced a flowing early move initiated by Max Elleson-Hustwick and developed by James Ewington who played in Bennett but Dorchester goalkeeper Alhaji Sesay was alert to the danger and made a fine save.

Opposite number, Gerrar, was called into action to pluck out an Aaron Rodriquez corner.

Ross Carmichael and Cameron Murray, named the Supporters Player of the month for September before kick-off, combined to create a chance for Winsper but his shot flew well wide from long range.

Gerrar then cut out a low ball from Blair aimed at Murray who then saw a centre punched clear by the Casuals keeper. It was Sesay’s turn next to impress as he saved an angled drive from Harry Mills on his line.

Billy Lowes showed great determination to win the ball which ran loose to Winsper whose shot lacked the power to trouble Gerrar. Back came Walton and Isaac Sarpong found Ryheem Sheckleford whose cross to the far post reached Taureen Roberts who could only fire wide.

Murray and Lowes set up another chance for Winsper whose effort was blocked while Kite’s follow up flew wide.

Kyle Egan played in Aaron Rodriquez whose 25-yard low shot was saved by Gerrar who dived to his left.

Busy Sesay then twice raced from his goalmouth to head clear while a foul on Bennett by Martin conceded a free-kick which Kyron Farrell directed too close to the Magpies glovesman.

Farrell had another shot blocked before Blair drilled a low shot across the face of goal. Bennett then cleverly flicked the ball over Ross Carmichael before drilling inches wide of Sesay’s post.

The Magpies grabbed the breakthrough following a foul by Sheckleford on Blair.

Kite was then warmly applauded for a strong surging run out of defence but an initially promising move fizzled out.

After the break, Kite forced a good early save from Gerrar.

A push by Mills on Egan resulted in a free kick to the Magpies which Blair delivered and although headed clear, the ball fell to Lowes whose shot flew high over the crossbar.

In an action-packed start to second half from the Magpies, Murray set up Rodriquez who struck the outside of the near post.

Sesay then down a long range drive from Kyron Farrell while opposite number, Gerrar saved an effort from Egan.

The powerful Taureen Roberts surged forward and unleashed a firm drive which flew well wide from 25-yards out.

Murray tested Gerrar who did well to parry his shot but somehow substitute Callum Thompson, who replaced Rodriquez in the 68th minute, drove the loose ball chance straight at the keeper with the goal at his mercy.

That miss was to prove costly as Casuals were soon celebrating an equalising goal when Sheckleford’s right wing cross was perfectly glanced home by Bennett.

Matters could have turned far worse for the Magpies as Walton applied strong late pressure.

Fortunately Sesay was in fine form and came to his side’s rescue with a fine stop to cut out a low centre by Roberts.

Murray had a shot saved by Gerrar and pulled another attempt wide before Sesay was in action again saving on his line to deny Roberts.

Roberts then fired wide after a slip by Martin before playing in strike partner James Newington who was only denied a winning goal for Casuals by a superb reaction save from Sesay as the two teams stayed level.
