FAST-paced play set the tone for this match in which NMP Property won a close contest 30-22.

NMP’s experience gave them the initial edge as WJNC’s nervous energy saw them struggle to settle, making small errors and allowing NMP easy turnovers.

NMP’s GD, Maisie Amos and GK, Maria Brookes worked well in the circle, making it hard for WJNC’s shooters to score.

WJNC started to settle in the second quarter with Olivia Conning, C, displaying a phenomenal work rate. NMP, however, were in their stride and continued to build a small lead.

NMP’s defence continued to dominate in the circle, however, WJNC’s GS, Libby Davis, worked hard to combat this, managing to put up some excellent goals for her team to close the gap.

Throughout the match, WJNC showed real determination and spirit but NMP were the dominant team from the first whistle to the last, allowing them to walk away triumphant.

Premier Division

OTC 21

SAINTS SECURITY 22

SAINTS Security took a nailbiting 22-21 win over OTC in their thrilling Premier Division clash.

Both teams gave their all in this evenly-matched first quarter. Strong attack by OTC meant Saints’ defenders had to fight for possession – Saints’ C, Becky Hallet, rose to the challenge, displaying effortless skill.

OTC’s Bryony White (GA) made some superb high shots to secure points for her team but Saints fought back, managing to pull ahead slightly by the end of the quarter.

Saints were quick to take possession of OTC’s centre pass, but OTC put up a strong defence in Saints’ D – Saints’ Linzi Gardner making excellent use of rebounds, however, maintaining her team’s lead. OTC upped their game with more accurate passing to keep possession across the court, allowing them to even out the score difference. Saints made some crucial goals to keep the scores advantage. OTC worked hard to ensure they went into the final quarter one goal ahead.

Tensions were high in the final quarter, with both teams vying for the win. Rain added to the challenge but both teams kept fighting. With a final push, Saints regained the lead and claimed the hard-earned victory.

Division One

WAIKIKI 20

BUGLERS 22

BUGLERS overcame Waikiki in another tense Division One battle.

The teams came out fighting with great determination and strong shooting from Buglers allowed them to take an early lead.

Waikiki upped their game in the second quarter but struggled to overcome Buglers’ rigid defence. Waikiki made a comeback in the third quarter with fantastic shooting from GA, Hayley Rooks. However, equally excellent

shooting from Buglers’ Kat Frampton (GA) kept her team in the lead.

A few mistakes by Buglers allowed Waikiki to pull the score difference almost even but Buglers upped their game to ensure they emerged victorious.

Division One

BAY FENCING 28

CRESTA LEISURE 42

CRESTA Leisure took a resounding 42-28 win over Bay Fencing in Division One.

The hard work put in by both teams meant there were few scoring opportunities, resulting in low scores at the end of the quarter. Cresta pushed ahead slightly, but on-point long-distance goals from Bay’s Charlotte Hangar (GS) kept her team in the game.

Bay displayed seamless play down the court, with new player Jessica Pym (GA) proving an asset to her team. A tactical change for Cresta saw Jayne Guppy move from GK to GA, using her superb attacking skill to extend her team’s lead.

Cresta found a steady flow in the third quarter, showing great control despite Bay’s relentless attempts to intercept, allowing them to increase their lead.

Cresta scored a string of goals in quick succession, with well-placed feeding by duo Kate Sanderson (WA) and Abbie Tinsley (C).

Despite Bay’s best efforts, they were unable to pin back the league leaders, and Cresta continued their winning streak.
