CHICKERELL UNITED 5

BEAMINSTER 2

NICK Voss lashed in four goals as Chickerell recorded their fourth game unbeaten with a fantastic 5-2 win over Beaminster.

Dean Smith and Shane James responded for Beaminster, while an own goal rounded off the scoring for Chickerell.

The hosts began as they meant to go on, with Voss firing wide after just 10 seconds straight from kick-off.

Chickerell got their breakthrough after 20 minutes however, when the striker rushed through one-on-one with the Beaminster goalkeeper and fired past him and into the net.

Voss had his second 10 minutes later when he fired in to double the home side’s advantage.

After 35 minutes however, Beaminster grabbed a goal back after the ball was lost in the centre of the park, before a shot was unleashed from 20 yards to narrow the gap.

Yet the home side would further settle the nerves just prior to half-time when Voss sealed his hat-trick.

After 60 minutes, Beaminster again ruffled the Chickens’ feathers when Gavin Daniels gave away a soft penalty and the visitors duly fired in.

The visitors then raised their game and put Chickerell’s lead under real pressure but it would be the home side that scored next to kill the game off.

It was Voss again, as he lifted a superb strike from 25-yards out over the visitors’ goalkeeper who was off his line.

Chickerell would add a fifth when mis-communication between the defender and the goalkeeper saw the former nod the ball over the latter from a cross in.

Ben Sandeman also saw a goal disallowed for offside as Chickerell saw out a superb victory.

Chickerell manager Shaun Murphy said: “It was a good victory, I think it was a very deserved victory.

“It was a good game.

“After the game against Blandford a week before where Nick probably should have scored four he has come up trumps this week and scored four.

“We have had a lot of players missing over the last couple of weeks and especially this week and the lads have come in and stepped up and been fantastic.

“You would not even notice the players that we have got missing. It is a credit to the squad that we have got this year, it is really good.”

Chickerell host fourth-placed Westland Sports Reserves on Saturday (3pm).

Chickerell: Brown, Coles, Daniels, Rogers (James 70), Heath, Sandeman, Etherington, Harvey, McCarthy (Miller 75), Ellis, Voss.
