Dorset Senior League CHICKERELL UNITED 4 AC MATRAVERS 0 CHICKERELL United kept up their unbeaten start to the season with a convincing 4-0 victory over visiting AC Matravers in the Dorset Senior League.

Manager Dave Drage was delighted with the result at Cranford Avenue that sees them climb to second place in the table.

He said: "It was a really pleasing result given that Matravers had won their opening two games.

"All four of our goals were well worked and the players are performing very well right now with plenty of confidence. The first half was quite tight but we bossed the second period and you could see their players tiring."

In an even first period, where both sides had opportunities to take the lead, it was the Chickens who struck home the advantage.

Good build up play through the middle of the park was finished off by Ashley Smith to put the hosts in front.

Drage's men then kept up the pressure to be rewarded by three further goals after the break. Another impressive move by the home side saw Nick Etherington profit to net his second of the campaign.

A pin-point centre from substitute Josh Why found fellow replacement Jimmy Hallett at the back stick, and he hit a precise volley past the visiting keeper to all but secure the victory for Chickerell.

The action wasn't over though, as Andy Graham bagged his side's fourth and final goal to complete the hosts' impressive win.
