DORCHESTER Town striker Jones Awuah has thanked director of football Shaun Brooks for the faith he showed in him and now wants to cement his place in the Magpies' starting line-up.

The Ghanaian born forward has started the last three games for Brooks' side, two of which ended in victories.

His first start came in the 3-1 win at Sutton a fortnight ago where he set-up two of the Dorchester goals, then he bagged a brace to open his competitive account in the 2-1 defeat of Fisher at the Avenue Stadium last Saturday.

His third consecutive start ended in defeat though as the county town side lost out to Basingstoke Town on Tuesday night.

The 23-year-old is determined to keep his place. He told Echosport: "I really hope I can keep my spot in the starting line-up. Shaun has shown a lot of faith in me and hopefully I can keep working hard to repay him.

"I got injured in pre-season when I was on trial but Shaun waited for me to get fit again and gave me my chance."

And Awuah would like to see another member of the squad featuring alongside him on a regular basis.

He added: "Hardy Pinto-Moreira and myself are building a good partnership in training and I think it showed against Fisher. He knows my game and I know his."

The Magpies will be looking to record their second home win of the Blue Square South campaign when they entertain Weston-super-Mare today (3pm).

Awuah was delighted to get the goals that ended the Avenue blues of three successive defeats.

He said: "We've been working hard so far so it was very pleasing to finally get that home win. It felt great to get the two goals that won it for us. I think the fans helped us against Fisher because they really cheered us on after a poor first half. Hopefully we can keep it going against Weston."
