DORCHESTER Town boss Steve Thompson says there is work to be done after he saw his side beat Yate Town 2-0 in their FA Trophy first qualifying round replay at the Clayson Stadium.

Second half strikes from Ben Seymour and Harry Kite secured the win, while Tom Blair was sent off late on for the Magpies.

Thompson said: “There is a lot of work to be done but it is a nice win.

“I am happy with the win.

“In the first half I don’t think we really got going. We played some nice football but we did not look dangerous at all. In the second half we did look more dangerous and a good free-kick at the start of the second period that helped everyone’s confidence, all of the players.”

Thompson also praised Seymour’s run of form since joining but said they will not take next round opponents AFC Totton for granted.

Thompson said: “It is nice, we have brought Ben (Seymour) in and he has got two in two and long may it continue.

“We certainly need to find goals from other players in the team if we are going to win against the better sides.

“We will not take anything for granted, it is a nice game to have now in 10 days and earn a bit more money for the club.”

Dorchester came out firing in the second half, and when asked what he said to the players at half-time, Thompson said: “I said it was not good enough, their keeper had had the night off, I did not mince my words.

“Even though we had as much possession as them they looked slightly the more dangerous team in the first half.

“We did get the second goal in the end, and obviously the sending off (of Tom Blair) did not help.”
