AARON Rodriguez insists Dorchester Town will treat Saturday’s FA Trophy second qualifying round match at home to AFC Totton like a normal game.

Rodriguez came on as a substitute as the Magpies won their first qualifying round replay 2-0 against Yate Town.

He said: “No one is expecting Totton to be easy but I do not think anyone would have rejected a team from the league below, so the draw has been quite favourable in that respect. We will not take it lightly and we will treat it as any normal game.”

Rodriguez admitted that the players felt like they owed the first qualifying round replay victory to the fans, acknowledging that their league form has not been what they have wanted.

He said: “We were delighted to get the win, we felt like we sort of owed it to our fans and the board and that because of our league form has not been as good we would have liked.”

After the first qualifying round replay the players had Thursday night off, but boss Steve Thompson told his players to focus on gym work.

Rodriguez said: “We have all been setting out to do our own targets in the gym and everything like that so he told us to keep ticking over because it is important to go into a Saturday not feeling lethargic.”

The game kicks off at 3pm.
