NOW in its sixth year, the Purbeck Trail Series series of off-road running events welcomes The Dorset Ooser Half Marathon into the fold, taking the total number of events in this challenging series up to seven.

The Dorset Ooser starts from an ancient thatched barn in the historic tiny hamlet of Turners Puddle.

It takes runners straight uphill before following farm tracks, footpaths, trails and short sections of country lanes to wind through ancient woodlands, old hidden holloways, heathland and hamlets.

Another change to the Purbeck Trail Series that will interest

runners, is the swap from the Purbeck Marathon to the Purbeck 16 for 2019. These two events (among a number of other distances) are part of The Purbeck Outdoor Weekend (TPOW), and the Purbeck Trail Series is pleased to have the 16-mile event included in their series.

In 2018, there was a closely-fought three-way battle for the

Dorset Flapjacks’ Team Shield, with Purbeck Runners managing to retain the shield for another year.

Runners that complete all seven races will receive a special commemorative award.
