WILTSHIRE UNDER-16S 1

DORSET UNDER-16S 3

DORSET recorded their second victory of the season in beating Wiltshire 3-1 to top the league after two matches in the Pro-Direct South & West Counties Championship.

Goalscorers included Dorchester Town’s Thomas Beeson, while goals were added from Poole Town’s Ollie Wilson and Hamworthy United’s Neemo Nixon.

Dorset produced a dominant first-half display on a bumpy pitch and really should have gone in at half-time with more than two goals registered.

George Carter, Eliot Jones, Nixon, Cameron Munn and Beeson all had opportunities to score before Beeson eventually put the visitors ahead in the 24th minute.

Finding themselves a goal down spurred Wiltshire into life and Wilson and Dorchester Town’s Lewis Freak had to be alert to thwart successive attacks from the hosts.

Four minutes before the break, Ollie Wilson broke into the Wiltshire penalty area, choosing not to shoot on two occasions before he coolly passed the ball into the net, beating Dominic Corfe on his near-post to put Dorset two up.

After the break, Wiltshire enjoyed far more possession of the ball than they had in the first half with chances arising at both ends of the ground.

With 25 minutes remaining, Owen Davies brought the host back into the game, scoring with his head from a Wiltshire corner.

The best of the late chances fell to the Wiltshire centre-forward Tom Morris who blazed his shot over the bar when well placed.

Nixon eventually calmed the nerves of the visitors when he slotted home to make it 3-1 to Dorset in injury time.

Dorset’s next game in the S&W Counties Championship is on Sunday, December 16 when they travel to play Berks/Bucks.
