STEVE Thompson says the Magpies are always looking to improve ahead of their Dorset Senior Cup quarter-final clash at Weymouth tonight (7.45pm).

The Magpies will have the same squad available that were due to face Staines Town on Saturday before the Evo-Stik Southern Premier South clash was postponed.

Discussing his side for tonight’s derby, Thompson said: “We will have the same squad available as we did for Staines.

“Aaron Rodriguez has got a broken wrist, Michael Edgar is still unavailable but hopefully may be fit for Saturday (away at Gosport Borough).”

The Magpies are on a great run of form at the minute, losing just one of their last seven matches, but Thompson knows his side need to improve in the league.

Thompson said: “Six of the last seven games we have not been beaten, so on a decent run in that respect but we know we need to get a few more points on that league table.”

“We are always looking to improve further as well, can we bring one or two others in who are going to improve us, or can these players, who have got the chance

and got the opportunity and done very well in the last two games move on to an improved level as well?

However, Thompson confirmed there is no news on the signing front.

Weymouth have dominated the derbies in recent years, with the Magpies’ last victory in this fixture being over three years ago now.

This, rather unusually, is the third straight meeting between the two sides to come at the Bob Lucas Stadium, with Weymouth having claimed a 5-0 win in the last meeting, while Dorchester drew 2-2 last Boxing Day.
