PIDDLE Valley and St Osmund’s were victorious as Dorchester Town Football Club ran an Inter-School tournament at the Clayson Stadium.

There were 10 first schools that took part in the morning and Dorchester Middle Schools played against St Osmond’s Middle School in the afternoon.

In total, more than 100 children participated and had a very enjoyable day regardless of the results.

The first schools’ final was hotly contested by the Prince of Wales School and Piddle Valley School with Piddle Valley winning 5-4 on penalties. In the afternoon, St Osmund’s Middle School were the winners of a close-fought game.

The event was sponsored by Parkers Estate Agents, Dorchester.

A Magpies’ spokesman said: “The club offers a big thank you to Parkers Property Consultants and Valuers for donating the medals and trophies, and the volunteers from both Kingston Maurward College and DCFA who helped out by taking on the role of match officials.”

Stadium Manager Mark Robinson, who was the key organiser of the competition added: “The day was an amazing experience for the children and the club. It was wonderful to see so many children playing football at this great facility.

“A lot of organisation went into making this event a success for the children and to see them all participating with such big smiles on their faces, win lose or draw, would suggest they enjoyed the event very much.

“I would like to thank the schools for bringing the children down to the stadium and also Dorset County Football Association for their support on the day along with the students who came from Kingston Maurward and Bournemouth University to help referee the games.

“On the back of this event I have had an increased number of girls come to my girls’ only coaching session on Saturday morning and we as a club will now be in a position to start a new girls’ football team once the admin has been sorted. That alone is exciting and positive for the club and the children of Dorchester.”

Mark and Emma Parker, the directors of Parkers Estate Agency, said: “Parkers were delighted to be asked to support this event utilising the superb new pitch at the Dorchester Football Club and encouraging youth football. The children demonstrated some excellent skills and it was a pleasure to watch and be a part of.

“Well done to all of those that took part.”
