ANDREW McDermott continued his early season dominance of the Weymouth ADC League as he claimed another maximum night on the oche.

However, it was Simon Sharp who came away with a new found lease of life after claiming his first win of the season and he then took a point from each of his next three games.

Sharp, whose finishing had let him down early on, was nothing but clinical on week six by overcoming Simon Churchill 4-2, led Sam Ward 3-1 before ending up with a draw and then finished with a 3-3 against Nigel Davies and then Andy Masters. These results moved Sharp off the bottom of the table and up five places.

McDermott kept his unbeaten streak going with another impressive night against three play-off hopefuls.

A 4-1 success over the in-form Paul Dormer was then followed up with another 4-1 win and a 120 out-shot against Mel Burton, as McDermott ended the night with a 4-1 victory over Nathan Smith that saw the former start the match with a 12-dart leg and 133 out-shot.

Holding on to the leader’s coat tails is Danny Aplin who, for the second week on the trot, took maximum points from his matches. Needing two bullseye finishes in his opening match against Stewart Master he took the 4-2 win. He ended the night with a 120 out-shot in the same scoreline against Paul Paice while a 4-1 win over Scott Gannon in between these results rounded off a good night for Aplin.

Another perfect week for Jordan Caughlin sees him now just two points away from a play-off spot as he produced some great darts again, none more so than in his 4-1 success over Dormer.

A 137 out-shot against Mark Samways helped him on his way to another 4-1 win with both results coming after an opening 4-0 success over Adam McKay.

Arnie Quinn’s cemented himself nicely in the top five as he also came away with two wins and a draw, Nathan Smith once again proved a tough opponent in their opening match.

However, it was Quinn’s finishing that made the difference as the latter went on to win 4-1, before he then faced Gannon who himself of late has found some great form and finishing, but Quinn’s quality shone through and he earned a comfortable 4-0 victory.

It was not so comfortable in the last match of the evening as Drew Tweedy took out 111 to claim the draw.

Ending the night with two 180s and a 3-3 draw against Sharp, Sam Ward did start with a 4-0 win over Shaun Lampard and then a 4-1 success over Terry Tucker.

It was a tough night of fixtures for Tucker, who started the evening in third spot, as Mel Burton inflicted a 4-0 whitewash and Burton then carried this form into his next match as he overcome Mark Samways 4-1.

Andy Masters is going about his business quietly as he sits seventh in the table. Billy Short ran him close, and should have taken all the points in their game, but Masters found some important darts towards the end of the match and secured a 3-3 draw.

A 4-2 win over Matty Betts followed for Masters, before he ended up with a draw with Sharp.

It was a disappointing night for Paul Dormer, it started with a 4-0 win over Lampard but he could not hide his frustration in losing to leader McDermott and then the in-form Caughlin.

Wayne Jordan had a great confidence-boosting 4-1 success over Short, but this was short-lived as Stewart Masters took full control of their match and claimed a a 4-1 triumph, as Masters ended up with two wins and a defeat as he beat McKay 4-2.
