MARK Molesley has warned that there is still a lot of football to come, as Weymouth restart their busy festive period.

The Terras have had a week and a half without a match prior to today’s match at home against Harrow Borough (3pm) but Molesley says his side have to keep focused.

The break comes as a result of Needham Market withdrawing from the FA Trophy, after their originally postponed match in Weymouth was rearranged for Tuesday night.

Molesley said: “There is plenty of football to be played yet.

“We are not even halfway through the season just yet but we go into a really busy period we have got to make sure we keep our feet on the floor, keep focused and keep playing the way that we train so hard to play and see where it takes us.”

The Terras now face a hectic run of four games in 11 days, including two derbies, at Dorchester and at home to Poole.

The other match, asides from today’s clash against Harrow, is a top-of-the-table clash at Taunton Town.

The Peacocks are currently top of the table with 41 points from 19 games, but Weymouth can overtake them via games in hand, with Weymouth having 36 points from 17 matches.

A side effect of the Needham Market withdrawal from the Trophy means that Weymouth’s previous game is still the 3-1 loss to Gosport Borough, which saw their nearly 14-month long unbeaten streak in the league at home come to an end.

When asked if he was grateful for the break, Molesley replied: “Definitely, training is very important to us.

“We have been able to get back on the training field, work a few things out, refresh ourselves, learn from the season so far and just get back out there and practice.

“Having said that we are disappointed with the Gosport result, and we are itching to get playing again so we can react in the right way.”

The Terras have a clean bill of health for Saturday, barring Warren Bentley (concussion) and Josh McQuoid (knee).

The duo are set to be out for the long term, and Molesley admits it is a big disappointment, describing them both as ‘marquee signings’.

Molesley said: “They are still out for the long term. It is a big disappointment, they are two marquee signings for us which we have had to deal without for virtually the whole season.

“That is disappointing but they are both working hard and hopefully each day is a step forward for them and they are on the mend but that is definitely not short term.”

McQuoid in particular played a starring role in the last league derby between Weymouth and Dorchester, as he ran rampant through the Dorchester defence to help Weymouth on their way to a 5-0 win.

Weymouth host Harrow Borough today (3pm).
