DORCHESTER Town goalkeeper Kingsley Latham refused to be drawn on his Magpies future with the Southampton loanee’s deal set to expire in January.

Latham has been in hugely impressive form for Steve Thompson’s side and was unfortunate to contribute to Brandon Goodship’s 90th-minute winner when parrying Yemi Odubade’s deflected shot against Weymouth in the Ridgeway derby.

Latham had made a series of excellent stops up to that point, earning himself the man-of-the-match accolade.

Speaking to Echosport, Latham admitted he is “loving” his time at the Clayson Stadium, regardless of how talks to extend his stay progress.

He said: “I’ll leave that to Southampton and Dorchester.

“I’m loving my time down here, I’m really enjoying playing football, but it’s up to those two to decide what’s best for me. We’ll find out in the near future.”

Commenting on the derby, a modest Latham insisted it was simply his job to make saves.

He said: “Overall it’s a bit disappointing. Frustrating that they got that goal at the end. I thought we played well.

“It’s good to contribute with a few saves, but that’s my job at the end of the day, to keep the ball out of the back of the net.

“I’m glad I could do that for most of the game but disappointed with the goal at the end.”

Despite losing the derby late on, Latham was positive about the improvement in his performances since joining the Magpies.

He said: “Personally I’m happy with how I’ve progressed. I feel like I’ve built up I confidence and each game I’m feeling better and better.

“The lads have gelled as a group. The last couple of results have been a bit frustrating but performances have been OK.

“Before that we had a good little run, so we just need to bounce back and get on another good run.”

Dorchester take on Wimborne at the Clayson Stadium today (3pm) and Latham highlighted the importance of the game.

“It’s a massive game. They’re in and around us, so we’ve got to try and get the win.

“We’ve been struggling for wins at home a little bit but I think recently performances have been better. It’s just that little bit of luck to fall our way.

“We’ve got to keep working hard, keep pushing, because our away form is good, so we can do it,” he said.
