DORCHESTER Town boss Steve Thompson insists the Magpies will go to leaders Taunton Town in confident mood ahead of their Evo-Stik Southern Premier South clash at the Viridor Stadium tomorrow (3pm).

Thompson’s men, sitting 18th, have collected four wins from five away league games, the latest a dramatic 3-2 victory over Tiverton Town as the Magpies survived a late penalty miss from Tivvy captain Jamie Price.

However, pacesetters Taunton have already beaten Dorchester this season when the Peacocks claimed a 2-1 triumph at the Clayson Stadium in October.

Despite the Dorset side’s good away form, Thompson is under no illusions as to how difficult the contest will be, with Taunton possessing the only unbeaten home league record in the division.

He told Echosport: “We go there confident. It will be a very tough game. Taunton are not at the top of the league for no reason.

“I know they got beaten (at Merthyr) but they’ll want to put that right against a team in the bottom half.

“I thought we played really well against Taunton, particularly in the first half. We were unlucky to come in 2-1 down.

“They’re a big, strong, physical side and we will need to be right at it to get anything, that’s for sure. I thought we were unlucky and deserved at least a draw from that game.”

Callum Rose (back) is a doubt for the encounter, while Harry Kite (ankle) is rated with a 50/50 chance of being fit.

Ross Carmichael (hamstring) and Luke Winsper (unavailable) are definitely out, but Cameron Murray (toe) could return.

Thompson said: “I’m hopeful that Cameron will be fit and I would say that Harry is no more than 50/50. Ross is definitely out.

“That’s how it is at the moment. We are down to the bare bones and Luke is unavailable, which is a massive blow because he’s come in and done well in the last two games.

“There’s a lot to think about, we do have issues. I’m just pleased we got the three points against Tiverton. It’s important to win against teams down near you.”

Ollie Griggs has returned to the Magpies after his loan spell at Winchester City expired.

Griggs originally joined the Citizens in early October, following a spell with them last season.
