DORCHESTER Town boss Steve Thompson is seeking to “turn around” the Magpies’ poor home form ahead of their Evo-Stik Southern Premier South meeting with Farnborough at the Clayson Stadium tonight (7.45pm).

Thompson’s men have been supreme away from home, recording seven wins from 11 games and rising to the summit of the league’s away form table until Poole overtook them with a 2-0 win at Tiverton on Saturday.

However, Dorchester’s endeavours on the road are at extreme odds with their home efforts, where they sit second-bottom of the division’s home form table with just a 2-1 win over Hartley Wintney to their name.

Perhaps the most telling statistic for the Magpies is their tally of just seven goals from 11 home games, leading to an overall position of 17th.

Thompson, whose troops could rise to 12th should they win and other results go their way, told Echosport the Magpies must cash in on their chance to beat 12th-placed Boro.

Speaking after the 2-1 FA Trophy loss to Barnet, he said: “We have to put this behind us now and we have to get three points.

“It’s no secret we need to improve our home form drastically, so (Farnborough) would be a good time to start.

“If you said ‘what do we want to do?’ it’s turn around our home form. The away form is pretty good, but we want to turn around our home form and we have the opportunity to do that – we need to take it.

“It’s a very important game, as they all are for lots of clubs at the moment because there’s about 12 or 13 clubs all battling not to finish in that bottom three.”

Thompson is hoping to capitalise on Boro’s tendency to blow “hot and cold” results wise.

He said: “Like all teams in our league they’re a little bit hot and cold, they’ve had a couple of wins recently and then they went through a real sticky patch before that.

“It really is a dogfight between so many teams – I don’t think I’ve ever seen a league as close. Everyone’s beating everyone and every three points you get is massive because you can go up five or six spaces.”

On Friday, Dorchester announced the extended loan deals of Exeter duo Ben Seymour and Harry Kite to the end of the season.

Thompson said: “I’m delighted with that, Ben and Harry have both been absolutely excellent for us. Ben has got 13 goals in 16 games and Harry’s been the mainstay of the midfield all season.

“I’m very pleased to get both of them signed on terms until the end of the season.”

However, Thompson hinted he may be without several key players for the clash but was unwilling to divulge which of his personnel would be missing.
