THE Weymouth & Portland Cruising Association talks programme resumed with club member, Michael Gregory, talking about his Caribbean holiday in the British Virgin Islands during April 2018 in the aftermath of Hurricane Irma.

The holiday was spent cruising aboard ‘Tack Till Nordic’, a 50ft Beneteau Oceanis, with the owner, WPCA member Peter Anderson and his family.

Many of Michael’s photos showed the devastation caused to the islands during the hurricane with boats littering the beaches and buildings flattened.

However, the islands are recovering and the pictures of beachside bars that were unaffected, crystal clear waters, sunshine and blue skies inspired members to consider cruising further afield in the future.

Next week, the talk returns to the reality of sailing in Britain when the Marine Division of the Dorset Police visit the club.

The talk starts at 8pm with the bar open at 7.15pm.

All local sailors are welcome to attend.
