PORTLAND-based Stuart Bithell and 49er partner Dylan Fletcher picked up a trio of top-five results, including their first win of 2019, to move second overall at World Cup Series Miami.
Bithell said: “I can honestly say the first race was one of the craziest races I have ever done. I’m fairly sure everyone in the fleet was first and last on the run.
“Anyway, we quickly moved on from that and had some solid starts and three really good results.
“A bit of boat speed and playing the right side of the course was key. Having picked up a BFD on the first day we are happy to be in the podium positions going into the last day of fleet racing.
“Every regatta is important for us at this stage in the cycle.”
Fletcher said: “We just about scrapped through and then the day settled down. It was nice to settle into a rhythm and get a bullet.”
