DORCHESTER Town manager Steve Thompson has identified two potential signings as the Magpies’ boss looks to freshen up his squad.

Thompson, after seeing his side lose 2-0 to Poole nine days ago, admitted he would seek the Dorchester board’s consent before chasing new additions.

And the Magpies’ number one appears to have got his wish with Echosport understanding talks are at an advanced stage to bring at least one academy player from a League club to the Clayson Stadium.

But Thompson preferred to keep the names and positions of his targets a secret.

He said: “I’m not going to divulge them, but (there are) a couple of targets and hopefully the players will agree to come, the clubs can agree what the price will be and we can get it done.

“They’re from League clubs but I’m not going into positions, I don’t want to undermine anyone in our team.

“I’ve already had discussions with the academy manager at that club and there’s two lads that, hopefully, will be able to come in.

“I think (the squad) needs a boost. If it does happen, I think it will give us more options.

“The goals that we score is an issue. We haven’t scored for three games and it almost seems if Ben (Seymour) doesn’t score we’re not scoring enough. That has to be an issue that we try and address.”
