MANNIE Wellman carded the top score of 38 points as the men of Bridport & West Dorset Golf Club took advantage of the melted snow for their Sunday competition, writes Peter Crowter.

Instead of the scheduled February medal it was decided to play a Stableford over a curtailed 16 holes on temporary greens.

Thirty-one players took part and the top score of the day was carded by Wellman (away) scoring 38 points giving him a clear lead over runner-up Gary Edwardes (9) with 35 points.

Third was Mike Savage (7) with 34 points, while the top man in Division Two was Phil Winton (14) scoring 35 points.

Second was Andrew McLeary (15) with 34 points and, after countback, Ted Story (13) was third with 33 points.

In Division Three, both Tony Colborne (22) and Will Turner (22) carded 37 points with Colborne declared winner after countback while in third place was Brian Austin (22) scoring 33 points.

All other competitions were cancelled due to the snowy weather.
