DORCHESTER Town's Matt Lucas is to step down from his role as chairman of the club at the end of the season.

Lucas is vacating the position at the Magpies' next AGM this summer in order to encourage new candidates to come forward.

Echosport understands there have been no interested parties as yet.

Lucas, who took up the vocation in 2014 on a temporary basis, has since gone on to fulfil the job as Magpies' chief for a further five years.

Lucas announced his decision to step down at last night's meeting of members at the Clayson Stadium, following a tense 3-2 win over Harrow Borough.

While Lucas will relinquish his duties as chairman, the Dorchester businessman is keen to remain on the Magpies' board.
