SHAFTESBURY RES 0

BRIDPORT RES 2

BRIDPORT Reserves’ manager Shaun Annetts says things are going in the right direction, after he saw his side beat Shaftesbury Town Reserves 2-0 in the Dorset Premier League.

Goals from Josh Hunter and Riley Weedon handed the Bees victory, which sees them up to 11th in the table.

The Bees were without Billy Fleet and Will Gape, which meant that A team goalkeeper Jordan Scadding was in goal for the contest, and kept a commendable clean sheet.

Annetts said: “I am very very pleased. It was well deserved. In recent weeks we have had some good performances and one or two good results, and things are going in the right direction, so I am a very happy manager at the minute.”

The Bees also saw James Cox called up to the first team at late notice, while Dan Baggs was ill on the day.

The Bees started the game playing down the hill at the Rockies, and it would not be long before it would pay off.

Some great work involving Jones and Riley Weedon sent the ball down the right-hand side before the former pulled the ball back for Josh Hunter to tap in after 12 minutes.

The Bees had further chances, through Josh Hull and Hunter but found themselves denied and went in at the break leading 1-0.

The Bees came out firing in the second half and doubled their advantage after 65 minutes.

A great tackle from Hunter on the halfway line regained possession, and he slipped in Weedon, who produced a great finish to seal all three points.

Scadding was on hand to save when the Shaftesbury striker was one-on-one to ensure no nervous moments late on.
