STAINES TOWN 1

Krabbendam 55

DORCHESTER Town hammered troubled Staines Town 6-1 in a one-sided Evo-Stik Southern Premier South clash at the Clayson Stadium.

Ben Seymour put the Magpies in front with a tap-in and Antonio Diaz grabbed two before Che Krabbendam pulled a goal back for the plucky Swans.

Diaz completed his treble as Richard Gillespie and Ben Morris both recorded their first Dorchester goals – all three coming in eight minutes – to complete the rout.

Staines’ misery was completed when both centre-back Jordan Harrison and stand-in boss Joe Dixon received their marching orders.

Dorchester made four changes to the team that started the 1-0 defeat to Frome on Tuesday night.

Making his home debut was goalkeeper Nick Hutchings alongside centre-back Ross Carmichael, midfielder Harry Kite and striker Ben Seymour who all came in for Kingsley Latham, Kyle Egan, Billy Lowes and Gillespie respectively.

Latham and Gillespie dropped to the bench as Egan and Lowes missed out for personal reasons and a thigh strain respectively.

Morris again took his place in the Magpies’ dugout having replaced Josh Williams after the Frome warm-up owing to the midfielder’s injury.

If Staines had been hoping to keep play tight in the opening exchanges they were instantly undone as Diaz slipped Seymour through after just nine seconds, the Exeter loanee’s path to goal obstructed by the Swans’ alert goalkeeper Louis Dixon.

Prior to kick-off, Staines had conceded 93 goals in 29 games, losing their last 15, and their porous defence was extremely evident with Diaz their chief tormentor, driving forward and forcing Dixon into a sharp stop.

Ironically, Staines’ best move of the game up to then resulted in Dorchester’s opening goal. The Swans constructed a lovely move stemming from their left, keeping the ball under close control and zipping passes around before finding Gabriel Piorkowski, who was dispossessed by Carmichael.

Carmichael’s tackle set up Luke Winsper and the midfielder set Diaz clear as Staines struggled to retreat in a two-on-two situation, allowing Seymour to collect Diaz’s square ball and stroke a tap-in home from six yards.

Dorchester should have gone 2-0 up when a corner routine found Sam Jackson at the far post, the left wing-back only able to head wide from six yards before Diaz played Seymour in on goal only for the striker to place his attempt wide of the far post.

Seymour somehow headed wide from three yards seconds before Diaz added the second, the Spaniard controlling Kite’s slick pass and blasting past Dixon from 20 yards.

Moments later, Diaz cut in from the left before aiming a left-footed shot inches wide of the far post. In a rare scare for the hosts, a dipping, swerving, Piorkowski shot bounced in front of Hutchings, who fumbled the ball behind for a corner.

After Dorchester cleared the corner, Dixon was called upon to make a quick treble save from Winsper, Jackson and Seymour.

But Dorchester could not add to their lead before half-time despite Panesar-Dower, Diaz and Joe Low all going close.

Following the resumption, Tom Blair snatched at a shot six yards out, skying his effort, before Diaz claimed his second goal, Blair’s cross deflecting off a Staines defender into the onrushing midfielder, whose touch was palmed into the net via the underside of the bar by Dixon.

Chances were ubiquitous for Dorchester and Low saw a header cleared off the line before a flying Dixon superbly denied Seymour from close range.

Blair, who was playing at right wing-back in the absence of Egan, then crashed a venomous 25-yard shot against the bar before Staines pulled a consolatory goal back.

Krabbendam was allowed to drift along the edge of the box before checking back and firing a twice-deflected shot beyond Hutchings into the inner side netting in the 55th minute.

Harrison received his first booking for a cynical push on Diaz before the Spaniard hit the post, poking Blair’s cross against the near upright.

However, Diaz would have his hat-trick on 73 minutes, holding off the covering defender to control a Kite long ball and race clear on goal before rounding Dixon and rolling the ball home.

Gillespie came on for Seymour and within two minutes had his first Magpies goal, striding into a vacant area before planting the ball underneath the luckless Dixon.

Mack Miskin’s cross then created a huge chance for Swans’ captain George Pilbeam who contrived to miss a header from six yards.

Morris punished that miss less than 60 seconds after coming on, side-footing home at the near post for his first competitive Dorchester goal as Diaz claimed his second assist.

Staines’ already dreadful day soured when Harrison clattered into Diaz for a second booking, while young caretaker-manager Joe Dixon, overseeing the Swans in the absence of boss Kevin Row, was sent to the stands for dissent before sarcastically applauding referee Stuart Kane and giving a thumbs up.

To their credit, Staines continued to push forward and a fierce 20-yard shot from William Montague troubled Hutchings but Dorchester's keeper palmed clear for a repeat of December’s scoreline against the league’s bottom side.
