WEYMOUTH boss Mark Molesley hailed the signing of Mark Childs as one to keep the fight for the goalkeeper’s jersey competitive, after the ex-Eastleigh man joined the Terras prior to the 2-1 win at Walton Casuals.

Childs joining the club was announced with the teamsheet on Saturday where he took his place on the bench as number two behind Tom McHale.

Molesley said: “We have been able to secure Tom until the end of the season but you need to carry two good goalkeepers at this level and I feel that the Mark Childs signing keeps that area of the pitch very competitive.

“It luckily leaves our goalkeeping coach from standing in as number two.

“We fielded a full, fit bench for the first time in a long time. So I am delighted to get him on board and like I said make that area of the pitch competitive.”

The match also saw Sam Sherring start for the first time in a month, while Jordan Ngalo was able to make the bench.

When asked if he feels that he is nearing the point where squad selection is a bit less of a pressure, Molesley replied: “Jordan Ngalo came back involved (against Walton), which was a little bit earlier than expected so that is another good bonus for us.

“It just shows you, people are starting to come back and like I said we have got a competitive squad.”
