THE new trout season is nearly here and the Wessex Trout Lakes in Tolpuddle, Dorset open on Friday, March 1 for quality fly fishing.

There are four lakes stocked with rainbows, blues and brown trout to double figures.

With no rise in ticket prices for 2019, you can fish from £23 (two fish limit) or £21 if aged 55 or over.

With the average trout size caught last season at 2lb 8oz that is a bargain day’s fishing.

Last season saw rainbows to 9lb, blues to 7lb and brownies to over 5lb caught, while the fish of the month competition will reward the biggest trout caught with a free two-fish ticket.

Meanwhile, South West Fishing For Life (SWFFL), a charity set up to help ladies and a few gents with recovery following treatment for breast cancer now meet at the lakes on the first Thursday of each month, with “free” access to both training and fishing (plus all tackle needed is provided free of charge)

Please contact SWFFL to join or come along at 11am.
