WEYMOUTH striker Gavin McCallum is confident that the Terras can now kick on after claiming four points from their last two games.

The Canadian was an inspiration in Saturday's 2-0 home win over Northwich Victoria and he will no doubt be looking to continue his scintillating form at Grays Athletic tonight.

A win at the Recreation Ground could move Weymouth 10 points clear of the bottom four and into the lower reaches of mid-table.

The Blues have won just one of their seven home encounters so far this term so the Terras will fancy their chances.

McCallum said: "Saturday was very good. It was my first home start and it was great to win. The fact I scored as well was also fantastic.

"The gaffer Jason Tindall has been making me feel confident in training and before games, and I just want to keep working hard and help the team move up the table."

McCallum is expected to partner Jefferson Louis up front again tonight but with Stuart Beavon and Stuart Douglas both having returned to action against the Vics as second-half substitutes, the youngster knows he cannot rest on his laurels.

He said: "We have four very good strikers at the club so it is a very competitive place to be at the moment but that is the way we all like it. We all know we have to keep performing to hold down a place in the team.

"After Saturday's result and the way we played I think the boys are really on it now and if we continue to work hard I am sure we will go to Grays and do well."

Trevor Challis and Danny Phillips have returned to full training for the Terras while Simon Weatherstone, Marcus Browning and Sido Jombarti have all been ruled out.

Kyle Critchell will also not figure. He has suffered a setback concerning a knee problem.

Tindall said: "Everyone who played on Saturday is fit and available.

"Trevor has also returned to training and so as Danny but Marcus, Sido and Simon will not be in the squad.

"Kyle has also had a bit of a setback and we want to make sure he is completely right before he returns.

"Grays must not be under-estimated because they have some good players but if we go there and show the same commitment and work rate that we have produced in our last three games then I am confident we can come away with a positive result."

Grays are managed by ex-Tottenham Hotspur defender Justin Edinburgh and on their books they have former Weymouth defender Simon Downer. However, he has not featured yet this season and is very unlikely to face his previous employer.

In fact Downer has been transfer listed after being caught enjoying food and drink with two team-mates in the club's bar during the second half of his side's recent 2-0 defeat against York City on September 22.

Edinburgh described the trio's act as a "complete lack of respect for their team-mates" but has since said that Downer could still appear for the club again after he apologised for his actions.

Another big talking point ahead of tonight's clash is whether or not Jamie Stuart will return for Grays. The former Millwall defender was sent off against York for an incident involving Chris Beardsley, who ended up with a broken jaw.

The police later arrested Stuart but have since released him on bail and now he has completed his three-match ban he is available again for selection.

Weymouth have arranged a friendly with Portland United tomorrow night at Grove Corner (7.30pm).
